What is VPS?

VPS stands for "Virtual Private Server" which is basically a large data center full of computer hard drives which you can access remotely via your "Remote Desktop Connection" which is found on Windows operating systems.

Some VPS servers are accessed directly from the web.

VPS is online around the clock so you can have your EA's up and running 24 hours a day.

The way VPS works is instead of using MT4 on your home computer, you can install MT4 on your VPS, set up your EA, and then let it run around the clock since the VPS compter is always online.

Cheaper VPS companies may not be as reliable as VPS companies who charge a little more.

A lot of traders prefer to use a VPS that is near their broker's MT4 price feed.

For example, if their broker is in UK they may want to look for a VPS in UK so they can set their EA up on a VPS computer that is nearer to their broker's location.

At the time of writing (April 2013) I personally recommend BeeksFX VPS (request UK/London server), with Traders Way (broker), which is only 7ms on BeeksFX VPS London server.

Not only that, so far Traders Way (live MT4 ECN account), has been good for news trading if you are using Ed's Price Action EA and Ed's Candle Pattern EA news trading default settings.

At the time of writing Traders Way accepts US and NonUS clients, and I have sucessfully deposited and withdrawn money from my Traders Way account.

VPS and Latency  

The term latency means your broker’s connection speed and how long it takes your PC (on your VPS) to connect to the broker’s servers via your Meta Trader 4 account.

The lower the latency rates the better.
